Storm report....?
« on: April 13, 2020, 09:57:18 AM »
Was anyone badly affected by the storms last night?  We watched its track on the news around midnight and were worried about you all who live in those areas from Cleveland to Etowah to Vonore, etc.

Hope all is well.

AM

EDIT:  Just looked at the news and see that north GA and Chattanooga had a lot of damage.

We had a tornado warning at around 12:30 am. I think it was shrouded by rain and didn't
touch down. Some slight damage and FIVE inches of rain. A few miles south, I think one on
the ground. Text with a few, Cleveland and east N.C. All okay, I was in touch with.
Hope all are safe from this and C. virus.

We just got our power on after Sunday's storm.  We only had one big branch down.  The rest of our neighborhood was not as fortunate.  Starting with the house next door (50 yards away), the rest of our neighborhood is a war zone.  No one died by us, but many have badly damaged homes.

Our daughter's neighborhood had one house destroyed across the street and 400 away strip mall wast totally destroyed.  This same storm hit my son in S. Carolina the next morning and trashed homes 1/4 mile from him.

Been away for a while from the forums.
After the storms, cell service was iffy for a little while, then later, internet was mostly non- existent
for three or four days, here at home. Was able to get it going, but don't know the reason.
Glad to see that it not any worse than it is with most of the cowboys.
Maybe it will remind us to be vigilant, there might be more this spring.
Harley.

Glad to hear that you all avoided the worst of it.

We were paying attention to this storm track because just two weeks earlier, on Sunday the 5th, a line of storms came through our area and caused a lot of damage around us.  The NWS said that it was not a tornado, but a microburst.  It sounded like a freight train with constant lightning all around.  It did no damage to our house except blowing debris around, but quite a number of our neighbors down on the water had parts of their roofs torn off, a porch torn off, even paint on the side a a house that looked like it had been sand-blasted, and of course many, many trees down (one crushed a vehicle).  Some of the trees looked like they had been twisted off.  If it wasn't a tornado, it was close.  I've never been in anything like it and I hope I don't have to experience it again.
