Meeting called to order by Reno Mustang.
1. Some would like to see rear sight on Marlin (white diamond) made legal. General conversation was you could black it out, turn around the part that the white diamond is on or remove it. Someone pointed out that blacking it out at one time was ruled not legal. Same would apply to anyone replacing rear sights on any rifle or carbine with a sight with the white diamond. Group conversation was in most cases this would apply to a new shooter and they would be made aware that the white diamond is not legal in SASS and suggest how to correct it. Normally no penalty applied as they did not want to intimidate a new shooter.
2. Open conversation about one match stepping on another. Group understanding priority would be World first, National second, Regional third and State level matches next etc. TGs in this group were comfortable with the TGs communicating and trying to work out any conflicts.
3. It was pointed out that there was some talk about the dates changing at NAR with the AL state match and our Southeast Regional swapping dates. At this time that hasn’t moved forward as the date of the Southeast Regional has been set for September 25th through 27th. The Alabama State Championship is May 1st through 3rd 2025.
4. 2023 TG meeting at Landrun came up. Pointed out that SASS TGs needed to make sure they were representing their club by passing on information and meeting deadlines on voting topics. SASS TGs Zoom calls had not started and maybe had been changed.
5. Lots of people in this group would like to see more marketing from SASS. We all want to see our numbers grow and will help anyway we can.
6. The question came up to our group about what has any club done recently to bring in new members. We had one club that just added three new members by holding a clinic for new Cowboy Action Shooters. Another club reported growth by holding more matches to accommodate shooters schedules.
7. The Outlaw Travis James added that he is glad to help anyone on marketing, video’s etc. to aid on helping grow our game, Cowboy Action Shooting.
