Building a "Backyard" range
« on: March 31, 2020, 07:59:17 AM »
Considering the Government guidelines may/will curtail shooting matches; it leaves one's mind to a wandering.  If I where to build a "backyard" range what are the requirements?   How wide; how long (deep); how tall to make the berms; erosion controls; equipment required; amenities...the list goes on.  So Cowboys and Cowwomen what say you?

Depends alot on the lay of your land.
You don't really need much depth if you are just practicing cowboy.
If you have tall hills you are good to go.
I don't think the state has formal requirements for a personal range. Your local government might be a different story.

I know this doesn't help much but if we had more info.

My range is down by the barn with woods  as a backstop.
Except in the winter, I roll up a door and shoot from inside.
