Looking for a traditional-style flintlock rifle. Also interested in any suggestions on caliber, brand name, etc.
Thanks,
Jackalope

I've got one. I'm not sure if I want to part with it. Your post makes me want to take it out of the GS and take a look at it again.
If you do acquire one, let me know and I can hook you up with one of the several cans of 4f powder I have for the pan.

Hey Jackalope, Dustin Clays has a ton of knowledge about Flintlock Rifles. Are you going to Cleveland on Saturday? He knows of a once a year classic shoot and Rendezvous Up in Friendship Indiana where all levels of Firearmes are available. He use to be part of the Leatherstocking group. It is coming up soon and he could fill you in. My phone # is 865-266-0770 if you want give me a call and we’ll discuss your quest. Lightning

Howdy Jackalope, Preacher Red made a flintlock for me last year. I took to Cactus's and shot it recently for the first time.. what a BLAST!! Preacher Red has a good knowledge of flintlocks and has friend who use to make them. Preacher has a good source for guns also. You can call him at home 705-8871

Thanks for the info, Lightning & Sam. I'll get with those two and pick their brains.

Jim Kibler sells some fantastic CNC made kits, I picked up a Southern Mountain Rifle kit at the Contemporary Long Rifle show last summer in Lexington.

Jim Chambers over close to Asheville, NC sells some pretty nice kits too, a little more challenging to build:

I recommend a swamped barrel 45 with a chambers lock. Mine was made by Lonnie McMillan over in Maryville and it has been a reliable shooter out to 100 yards with a patched 440 ball
If you want to shoot it let me know

Also you can shoot it with 3f in the pan and in the chamber He crowned the barrel so you dont need a starter as they were not traditional anyway
